Surgical Treatment: Gastrectomy Options

Depending on the location and stage of the cancer, various types of gastrectomy are performed:

1. Total Gastrectomy
   The entire stomach is surgically removed when cancer involves a large area or is located in the upper part of the stomach.

2. Subtotal (Partial) Gastrectomy
   The lower portion of the stomach is removed. Most commonly done for tumors in the lower region.

3. Sleeve Gastrectomy
   A significant part of the stomach’s left side is removed. This is more common in weight-loss surgeries but may be considered in selective gastric tumor cases.

4. Esophagogastrostomy
   Involves removal of the upper stomach and lower esophagus, followed by reconstruction to maintain digestive continuity.
